AXUM STALI-4

Axum

AXUM is the capital of one of the most glorious empires of the ancient world dating back to 1000 BC. Once the seat of the Queen of Sheba, this ancient capital is the site of the famous Obelisks. It's through Axum where Christianity was introduced to the country in the 4th Century.

This has given rise to Axum to be a centre of religion and civilization. This ancient capital offers to the international traveller the stelae field, Axum Zion (the first Ethiopian Orthodox Church), different archeological sites, tombs and remains of palaces.

Lalibela

Lalibela is famous for its 11 rock-hewn churches built in the 12th century. Most travel writers describe these Churches, which are still active in use, as the "Eighth Wonder of the World". They are hewn out of a living rock. Of all the churches, Bete Giorgis is famous for its architectural perfection.

LALIBELA BETEGIORGIES-3

Gonder

Debre Berhane Sellassie Church is famous for its paintings on the ceiling, dominantly decorated with winged Angles.
